Looking at art while gallivanting around Chelsea is hunger-inducing, so thank goodness for places like Cookshop, where you can enjoy a delicious meal in a space that feels like you haven’t left the gallery.

Husband-wife team Victoria Freeman and Marc Meyer (see Hundred Acres [p. 116] and Vic’s[p. 163]) pride themselves on sourcing locally, and it shows. For one, a giant chalkboard in the back of the restaurant features a diagram of a cow’s edible parts. Try out the Mixed Grill, composed of lamb chop, hanger steak and pork tenderloin that sits atop yellow rice with sweet Medjool dates and almonds. This is an entree for the very hungry.

The tangy mix of peaches, vine beans, cucumber, red onion and goat milk feta topped with harissa vinaigrette combine to form a light, but filling summer salad and a vegetarian favorite.

Sea salt is on every table, so one can sprinkle a few crystals on anything lacking. Happily, at Cookshop, not much is, including the people-watching.
